A Rain-Kissed Forest Wedding at Chris Park, Durango, CO | Sileah + Ben

If you are dreaming of an intimate mountain wedding in southwest Colorado surrounded by pine trees, fresh mountain air, and your closest family and friends, Sileah and Ben’s wedding at Chris Park Group Campground is the perfect inspiration.

As a Durango wedding photographer, I absolutely love photographing weddings like this—laid back, meaningful, and deeply connected to the beauty of Colorado’s great outdoors.

Sileah and Ben chose to rent the group campsite at Chris Park for their wedding weekend, creating such a warm and personal atmosphere for everyone attending. Guests gathered outdoors beneath the trees, spent time around camp together, and fully embraced the slower pace and natural beauty that make mountain weddings in the Durango area so special.

Their entire day felt intentional and relaxed from beginning to end.

Before the ceremony, we photographed two emotional first looks tucked away in the forest.

The first was between Sileah and her dad, and it was one of those incredibly heartfelt moments that instantly brings tears to everyone nearby. Watching a father see his daughter fully dressed for her wedding day never gets old.

Then came Sileah and Ben’s first look beneath the trees.

One of my favorite things as a Durango wedding photographer is witnessing couples finally exhale when they see each other before the ceremony. The nerves disappeared immediately, and they were simply able to soak in a quiet moment together before the day officially began.

Their outdoor ceremony took place surrounded by towering pines and all the people who matter most to them. And then, in true Colorado mountain fashion, the weather added its own little touch of magic.

Right as the ceremony ended, it began to rain.

Guests gathered close, laughed, and embraced the moment while soft rain moved through the mountains. Then somehow—perfectly timed—the rain stopped completely just as we started their couple’s portraits.

The forest after rain was absolutely beautiful. The air felt cool and fresh, the trees looked richer in color, and the mountains had that peaceful stillness that only comes after a summer rainstorm in Colorado.

Honestly, it felt like a blessing timed exactly right for them.

Their portraits ended up feeling incredibly romantic and intimate because of it.

Sileah and Ben were so natural together throughout the entire day—fully present with each other and genuinely enjoying every moment. Those are always my favorite weddings to photograph because the focus stays where it should: on connection, family, and celebrating the beginning of a marriage.

As a wedding photographer in Durango, these are the kinds of wedding days I love most:

  • intimate mountain weddings

  • outdoor Colorado ceremonies

  • campground and forest weddings

  • emotional first looks

  • couples who value experience over perfection

Sileah and Ben’s wedding at Chris Park was such a beautiful reminder that sometimes the most meaningful wedding days are also the simplest ones.

Sileah and Ben, thank you for trusting me to document such a heartfelt celebration in the mountains of southwest Colorado. Your wedding was full of love, emotion, and the kind of moments that make storytelling through photography so meaningful.
